Nadal into 3rd Straight Semi

Last night, Rafael Nadal beat Fernando Verdasco 7-5, 6-3, 6-4. He is playing great tennis right now and if you people are sleeping on tennis, then wake up. It has become, by far,my favorite non-team sport. The stuff these guys do is incredible.

The match was plagued by high wind throughout but each player eventually figured it out and delivered a really entertaining match. The whole US Open has been blessed by some crazy athletic shots. Federers’s between the legs winner, emulate more than once by various other players, including Nadal. Some imcredibly nifty backhands. And last night, Nadal added another to the list with a 360 degree backhand/volley while running toward the net. You can peak that here. Its in the last 15 seconds of the vid:

Roger Federer meets Novak Djokovic later today in the semi’s. This could be a test for Fed, but I doubt it. He made a joke of Robin Soderling and I don’t see Novak giving him trouble. Roger is playing remarkable tennis and so far has had a pretty easy draw compared to Nadal. I think he wins in 4 sets. Djokovic will steal won early before Federer stops messing  around and sends a message that he’s ready for Nadal in the finals.
